Late Night Feeds • A Bedtime Poem for Christian Mothers
Surprise: I'm a published author! As I share in my Author's Note page in my new book: this was essentially written after a late night feed with my daughter when I was in the middle of some hard feelings, being sleep deprived and struggling postpartum. I've never really considered myself a writer, although it was a favored subject in school. I've always enjoyed it as a therapy, whether it's been kept private or now, shared on this blog.
This started as just that, a therapy. But as I kept going, I kept feeling and it became something - so simply, too. It became something I wanted to share. I think this book can really be appreciated by many, but my primary audience is first and foremost Christian mothers.
I could have just written a Facebook post and been done there but I had a vision. I wanted pages, an explanation, and a dedication. I wanted art. Simple but beautiful art, and I wanted it to be from actual pictures of my life. I'm so grateful my sister lent me one of her many God-given talents and gave me exactly what I envisioned. I wanted to copyright it and buy the ISBN. Because of all of that - but more than all of that - I wanted to share this in a physical form so that new and seasoned mothers may be blessed by it. Like I said, many people may appreciate this but I think mothers will truly be moved by it. This feels silly to admit, and it might seem like I'm full of myself, but I truly tear up every single time I read these words I wrote months ago. Words have power for a reason. My hope is this: that any mother who reads this is reminded that she is not alone in her darker postpartum moments. More than that, she has a Heavenly Father who designed all of the beauty that is motherhood and parenthood who holds her in His heart.
This was strictly a passion project. I did not do this to make money. In fact, I've technically lost money. But I don't care because this was a bucket list item I didn't even knew I had: to become a published author. All that being said I would love for you to invest in this book whether it's for yourself, your mother, your grandmother or a friend.

Here's the back-of-book summary:
"While late night feeds are more relevant to new mothers, this poem will make mothers feel something, no matter their stage of life. Motherhood is a constant evolution, yet when we see a bottle or think of those early restless nights with our newborn, we are each transported back in time instantly. This bedtime poem is a mother's version of a bedtime story that will remind her she is not alone in early motherhood as well as her time onward. What's even better than that reminder is God's example for us and what it means to be a disciple despite the hardships of motherhood. It is heartbreakingly beautiful to experience this life, watching your children grow up and become their own person. Whether you are a new mom, grandmother, or great-grandmother you understand what that means and why it is such a bittersweet privilege to parent and watch your baby go from having late night feeds to late night phone calls. The good news is: you have a God who rejoices in motherhood and calls you His own. Just as your children run to you, continue to run to your Heavenly Father, praying in all you do - even during late night feeds."

All the best,
Morgan
